Time Sensitive

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:12

When it comes to loving others, the Bible does not reveal an emotional love like we see in the movies or read about in novels. Biblical love usually speaks to the will. To that end the gospels show a Savior sweating blood in a garden and going against His emotions and discomfort to love sacrificially. The ones on the receiving end of this love experience a deep gratitude because sacrificial love stirs deep emotions. This is you and me. We have felt this amazing love of God through the Holy Spirit’s presence and work in our lives, so in response, suddenly we pick up our cross, make our sacrifice, and die our own deaths to self.

The Holy Spirit reminds us that our highest priority on earth is time sensitive. The clock is winding down every day. This reality invests every interaction, encounter, and relationship with greater meaning. Knowing this frees us to love like never before, with focus and attention, the people God brings into our life.  We don’t delay as much in offering forgiveness, we say “I am sorry” faster, we risk more to connect with strangers, we minister with more care, and we teach with more urgency. Remember, you’re it and time is short. On the other hand God does bring about those moments that we just know His Spirit is upon us and gives us the timing to “be all things to all men that we may win some.” God is love and we have his Holy Spirit within us. God is so good; He provides all we will ever need.

Father, you have thought of everything and given everything. Thank You for loving me and revealing to me all I will ever need.
