God loves it when we are connected to others, because He loves it when we are connected to Him. Did you know that we are directed by God to pursue others? To make these so-called connections we've been talking about? Here are some "get connected" scriptures:
- "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy" (Proverbs, 27:6, NASB).
- "The eye can never say to the hand, "I don't need you." The head can't say to the feet, "I don't need you"" (1 Corinthians 12:21, NLT).
- "Pursue faith and love and peace, and enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts" (2 Timothy 2:22, NLT, emphasis added).
The apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian men, "Stop acting like you don't need each other!" The author of Hebrews wrote that when we walk alongside people headed in the same direction, we can sustain our commitments. According to Proverbs, a good friend tells us what we need to hear, not what we want to hear. We are better men when we are connected.

Whether you've been naive, rebellious, or foolishly negligent in taking God's standard seriously, mixing in your own standards leads to being ensnared and even worse.
Because our own standards on sexual purity have been so mixed with God's, and since many Christians don't read their Bibles very often, many men have no clue about God's standard for sexual purity.
The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord. (1 CORINTHIANS 6:13)
You are to abstain from...sexual immorality. (ACTS 15:29)
Lord, I repent of having mixed my own
standards with Yours. Help me learn Your
standard for sexual purity and take it
seriously so that I will not be ensared by
my own foolishness.

In a perfect world the head of the home would be the most sensitive one in the house. Well, you already know this, but we don't live in a perfect world!
For most men, sensitivity does not come naturally. Guys just assume that if they are happy and satisfied, then their wives are happy and satisfied. So, while she thinks this selfish behavior should be obvious to him, it really isn't. Our wiring doesn't pick up signals like this very well.
Lord, You know my wife better than I do.
You know her heart and You know her
needs. Show me how to be sensitive to
her desires. Help me be aware of her
feelings that I might serve her better.
I know that in doing so, I am pleasing

The world hasn't yet seen what God can do with an army of men free of sexual fervers. You can remain pure so that you might qualify for such an army.
The four requirements necessary to stop masturbating are these:
1. Making a strong decision to no longer "stop short" of God's standards.
2. Joining an accountablity group that allows for the honest expression of feelings.
3. Continuing an active, ongoing relationship with God that involves worship and prayer.
4. Becoming aware of how various media - magazines, cable TV, videos, Internet, and catalogs - affect your sex drive.
Fulfilling these four requirements will allow you to love your God with all your strength and sexuality.

Why do we so easily mix in our own standards with God's? Why are we so soft in our choices regarding sexual sin?
Sometimes we're simply naive. Do you remember seeing the animated Disney classic Pinocchio when you were growing up? Pinocchio knew it was the right thing for all little boys to go to school. On his way there, however, he met some scoundrels who painted a wonderful picture of spending the day at a place called Pleasure Island, a sort of amusement park just offshore. They gave Pinocchio a free ticket on the ferry over, but he didn't know that at day's end all the boys would be turned into donkeys and be sold to pull carts in the coal mines for the rest of thier lives. Liikewise, we can be naive and foolish regarding God's standard for sexual purity as we stumble blindly into wrong "because everyone else is doing it."
But sometimes we choose wrong sexual standards not because we're naive, but simply because we're rebelious.
