Men who are afraid to pay the price in their commitment to Christ rent to consign themselves to some pseudo-identity absent His real influence. Half-cocked, lukewarm, and without a full identification in Christ, these men “get what they get” out of their relationships with God. They are wishy-washy and will ultimately display a lack of spiritual integrity.
Spiritual integrity in the moment is an extension and reflection of your true heart commitment. Just as the two key elements to success in sport are time and training, the key to living, breathing spiritual commitment tested over and over again, which develops spiritual confidence. In the book of Chronicles, Israel’s most proven veteran, a man named David, said, “I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity” (29:17). God will put our spiritual commitment into play over and over to reveal what’s there. He will test it by giving us real-life opportunities to develop a practical consistency, and when we choose Him, He is pleased. The goal is to choose God consistently under pressure and thereby develop spiritual integrity.
