The Insight God Gives You!
“So we continue to preach Christ to each person, using all wisdom to warn and to teach everyone, in order to bring each one into God’s presence as a mature person in Christ.” (Colossians 1: 28 NCV)
Jesus hugely disdained and chastised those with spiritual costumes who only pretended to care for people. They were clueless to the real needs in people’s hearts because they loved themselves more than the people they were trying to help. The point is, why would God give any man insight into people if that man had mixed motives in his heart?
This spiritual skill also implies a clear ability to help others understand what really matters in life in order to integrate those core values into our lives. Our task as God’s men in connecting with others is to be guided by love and an ability to see the important stuff, to discern. “What’s that? You ask. It means you care enough to know their heart issues and you’re good at asking questions that connect to the heart. The biggies would be family issues — family losses — other relationships — personal core struggles and fears — biggest hurts — personality and wiring.
See? It’s not a long list. From the first century to the new millennium, people’s core issues have not changed. These issues are the key indicators to test and probe.
When you care enough to search out the main issues of someone’s heart, you become privy to who that person really is — his standards, ethics, motives, driving passions, and real gods. Like Jesus, you’re called to train your recognition of the differences between appearances and reality.
Father, thank you for your perspective of truth, which is the only true perspective.
