Rooted in Mutual Cooperation

“Jesus said to them, ‘My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.'” John 5:17

The free exchange of feeling and thought between Jesus and the Father was a synergy of purpose the world had never seen. It was the Father & Son Redemption Co.; Building the Kingdom since 33 A. D. Because the Father loved the Son so deeply he revealed His plans and purpose to him. And the Son obediently carried them out.  Jesus would say things like:

“My food is to do the will of Him who sent me”, “I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me”, “These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me”, “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of Him who sent me.”

Multiple statements like these reveal the unwavering commitment of Jesus to the Father’s purposes. For Jesus it was a direct outcome of personally experiencing, seeing, and assigning importance to the Father’s purposes as a willing agent of expression.  We see Jesus who is functionally attached to the Father’s will and free to make it His mission.  He experienced love and acceptance; He was secure, knowledgeable, ready, sent, and focused.

So what about us? What is the connection to us? According to Jesus the exact same dynamics apply, custom designed to produce the same high octane and spiritually healthy commitment. “I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me”. (John 17:23)

Father, thank you for preparing every good work for Jesus and me to do.
