The Richer Life
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. Hebrews 12:1
Giving up for your relationship with God is an opportunity to bring Him glory, and in return it gives you a stronger, more vibrant faith, and consequently a “Richer Life”. Give up an attitude—a behavior—a response—a comfort—a right to strike back—a feeling—an impulse—a chance to control—a grab for power—a portion of your time—a pattern of your old life—a financial bonus—a freedom—a way of doing something—a golden opportunity. Why? Because your Father in heaven is blessed when you live a “Richer Life”.
A defining characteristic for every God’s man seeking greatness is this: He sacrifices to secure a blessing. Not to sacrifice is to forfeit the richer life that God has planned for you. God’s man is either in a condition of gaining or losing a blessing based on what he is giving up. The strong encouragement, example, and the experience of Christ are deeply connected to our own willingness to live a life driven by the solid expectation that our sacrifices for Him on earth will be richly rewarded.
Sacrifice and glory held a symbiotic power for the Son of God. They were two separate and unique experiences that were mysteriously working together for present greatness. This same connection between present sacrifice and future glory is to be equally in you as you seek greatness in God’s power.
Father, you have turned giving up into a positive, that’s what loving fathers do, they turn lemons into lemonade.
