Commitment has its roots in surrender. The Roman Centurion is a prime example of this. He said to Jesus. “I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. I myself am a man of authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one “Go,” and he goes; and that one, “Come,” and he comes. I say to my servant “Do this,” and he does it.” (Luke 7:7-8)
This is the man that Jesus commended by saying “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in all Israel.” The following is what God is looking for in the heart of every God’s man.
I know you are in charge — I know you are capable — I am not in control: you are in control — I am yielded to you — I have no power — You possess all power in my life at this moment — I am dependent on your will being done in my life — you are in authority over me.
Find a great spiritual warrior, and I will show you ruthless submission and surrender to the will of God in that man’s life. Yielding to God’s authority in our life’s green lights is the wielding of His authority through your life. Commitment to God’s authority is a sacrifice of our will and Satan’s influence. Satan is using every bit of power he has been given to undermine our under-developed character and integrity. We are God’s men who have our identity in him. Help me Lord to make this real in my life.
Father, Thank you for the choice to surrender to your authority.
