Pray for Open Doors

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:10

God’s man is proactive on the gospel front.  He’s an infantry man hungry for some action, praying for assignments. Many athletes, no matter what the sport, are thinking, “I hope they pass the ball to me.” They are eager to take the risk and the responsibility. The Military man says “No guts no glory.” If you are in a men’s group, evangelism should be a part of your group culture and covenant.  If you have an accountability partner, you should load in accountability questions for evangelism alongside the sexual-temptation question (try publicly witnessing to the lady you’re tempted by and see what happens!). Few men in our Christian culture are naturally aggressive in sharing their faith. Most of us need to train up and into spiritual confidence first. We have to own it.

The key to developing God’s purpose for evangelism starts here. We must be convinced that this is His priority for our lives. God commands that we go and make disciples (see Matthew 28:18-20). Next we need to pray for opportunities and be mindful that God will layer us into situations — some obvious and others not so obvious — that call us to share our testimony and the gospel on His time.  Last, we are to proactively pursue, encourage, and sharpen each other in witnessing.

As we risk building a lifestyle of evangelism through prayer and then practice, we will begin to see the custom-built opportunities God has already laid out.  Prayer will be the key at each step of the process.

Father, Thank you for partnering with me, help me believe in your promise.
