Self or God Confidence

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.  Now if we are children, then we are heirs — heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Romans 8:16-17

Our greatest source of confidence is remembering our identity as a son of God. When our Father says, “This is my Son in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17), the fight of confidence is won. Sonship wins spiritual champions in the lives of God’s Men.  Throw that identity away and your confidence in the moment goes with it.  You, as your own man, are simply not strong enough to resist powerful feelings that lead to compromising your faith. That is why the mission of the Holy Spirit in your life is to pound that identity deep into your spirit.

Shifts of fortune cannot change the commitment of the Spirit-filled man, and suffering is considered the fruit of our higher allegiance, again a man and a warrior think and act this way.  Small acts of faithfulness add up and it is in the little things that our fight begins.  For it is in the small acts of obedience where true spiritual strength lies and the greatest preparation is made for the larger fights to come.

The Holy Spirit is also calling you to a higher version of yourself that rises above circumstances and feelings to be faithful to God in the midst of pressure.  That is God confidence not self confidence.
