You are a Victor!
Not of the letter but of the Spirit: for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life! (2 Corinthians 3:6).
You and I have been given, for better or for worse, the ability to produce life or death through our character. The Holy Spirit took a group of men at Pentecost, saved them, filled them, changed them inside, and turned them loose to bring His health and life to a waiting world. It was a movement in time through yielded men. It was a fresh movement, not of the letter or of stale religion, but of the Spirit who refreshed those who entered and accepted the faith that God has given us to believe in his love for us. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant — not of the letter but of the Spirit: for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life! (2 Corinthians 3:6).
Many of us live our lives in defeat even after we have accepted the victorious life. We have been so influenced by the letter that we have not lived with the freedom of the Spirit. A belief centered on the letter instead of the Spirit is living in the prison of guilt and defeat. We will never keep the law that is why the Old Testament (covenant) was given. The New Covenant tells us that we are forgiven of the past, the present and the future. All sin and guilt has been abolished. You can’t live in the defeat of the Old Testament and at the same time live with the Joy of the New Testament. It’s either or. We must address this fact often through the day. Is my motivation thankfulness or guiltiness? Remember the word confession in the Greek means simply (to agree with God that we have sinned). Move on and live and be motivated by the joy of your salvation!
Thank you Jesus for saying on the cross, IT’S FINISHED!
